The meals program is very important for children, since they are going to school without any meals from their houses. When an abroad partner pays $10, $20, $30, $35 for meals to a Haiti partner, that is feeding the children so well. Today I enjoyed taking pictures of some of the children that their partners pay for meals for them every week. This is a place for preparing meals close to their schools. When the classes stop in the afternoon they are going to eat. They are very happy for the meals program, that encourages them to go to school, and helps them have brains to study more. Personally, I thank every abroad partner who are paying for meals for their partners. You are really helping people who live in extreme poverty in Haiti. You can enjoy viewing their pictures below. Our meals are delivered everyday to the children who you paid for. If you have suggestion and question please let us know as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Cajuste

One of our Haiti partners is named Jasmine Tituste. Her family has received the benefit of rent for six months. This contribution has been sent as an Optional Program by Cathy Dekker, who is the partner of two Haitian children in PINP programs, Naphtalie Jean from Cite Soleil and Falant Jean Louis from Delmas 75.

Jasmine's mother, who is responssible for her family, had been in a very bad situation, as I explained that in my last news. Celine Loyee, Jasmine's mother, was sleeping outside with her family under plastic when it was raining, so that family couldn't sleep and was in danger of becoming sick. I reported this in my newsblog, and Cathy immediately sent $200 US to make it possible for this family to sleep in a safe place. Now this family is very happy to sleep safe. In the photos you can see Celine now in her room with her some of her children, and soon she will bring the other children back from the countryside, as she took them there because she didn't have a room to sleep with them.

This letter below is from Celine Loyee about the delivery of the money to her to rent the room for six months, and the letter has been sent to Cathy Dekker personally.
Sincerly,
Cajuste
PINP

Cathy,

I am very happy to thank you for the money that you have sent to me to re-pay for my house. I sent you photos where one of the PINP staff takes my interview. Dear Cathy I have brought some of my children to the countryside cause I didn't have anywhere to sleep with them. Now I will bring them back to the room that you rented for my family. I am glad. I don't how to thank you as you are the biggest help for me and my family. You can see the picture of the house. I would like you to think how I am happy for my house. I lived outside with my family and when it's rained I was very wet under rains. One of my children got sick cause of that problem and now he feels okay.

Thank you so much,
Celine Loyee.

We are so gald to thank our abroad partners especailly some of them who contributed money to the PINP staff in Haiti, we are so greatfull to them, because after the earthquake all Haitian people is in need, the staff is encorage more than before because they understand that others think about them. We think especially Geoffrey Berson, Diane Khal, Treva Sylverman etc... for their generousity funds that they have been contributed to the staff.

All who support my family and I, thank you for your support and help my family got back in Port au Prince and now living under a tent at Delmas 77 where I found a piece of site, in the future I will be built a three rooms house in that site. As you know before I couldn't keep leaving my family in the countryside it was too much expensive for me according to my income that is why I obliged got them back in Port au Prince even if the life also difficult in P-au-P. I know we can not stay living long under a tent but that can help me during a little bit time to find a better safe place for my family. I care about family a lot, it is one of my big responssibilities.

Please I will always inform you about my family and I because I respect all of you who support Haiti through helping a child, mother, restavek etc...We ned to be sure that your help goes directly to the person that you are supporting. That's why I have to explain you all my situation, I don't ask anyone to help me but if you do that's great and it is your generosity. I am doing my hard work to help Haiti move up and I love your hard work to send money and thoughts to our Haitian Partners and staff.

Please this is a short view of my heart.

Sincerely,
Cajuste

After the earthquake some of our partners moved to the countrysides, I had possibility to visit one of the countryside which is Bainet a community of Jacmel where I was born, we have three our partners who are living there right now ( Dialine Justale, Fresnel Prudent, and Sciana Monnevil) We brought some food and water for each of them, we also organised a meals for the community of one of my churches. The children are very happy to received the food and staying in the countryside. Fianally they want to stay there for life. Where they live now there is a community school where they can attend classes. Sciana Monnevil explained that" now she is doing well and feeling more confortable to live with her family" . Fresnel Prudent explained that" he is loving countryside than Port au Prince, because there is a lot of trees where he lives, and he has less work to accomplish than when he was restavek.

By the way, I think that after the earthquake, decentralization was beginning with some people who moved from Port au Prince to the countrysides cause danger, they won't be getting back anymore, it is necessary now to develop the countryside by putting classical school, medical care, power, water purification system, proffesional school, Route, and some gouvernment's offices etc... now Haitian people won't be in danger like they live in Port au prince in Garbage, sewage, slums areas etc...People who wants to help Haiti I think it is a very good way to put some action in the countrysides. I am ready to help any instance who wants to come in Bainet and develop this community.

If you want to Help Bainet develop, come to me and I will be your guide. Let me know any question you have.

Video food from AMDA an organization from Asia.

Delivery of food to all our Haiti partners.
After the earthquake, Haiti becomes one of the porest contries in the world. PINP has been created some temporary programs like Tutoring, computer class, alphabetization, English lesson, literacy traning, drawing, for the children and mothers. We are delivering a food, water to our Haiti partners every week, some of the food from the aboad partners and other organization like AMDA, Save the children, and Pam. Now we are trying to prevent them Tents but we are not sure if we will be found, but try. We also working with a camp city near our office at Delmas 75 where they are getting food each week and we have been received 16 tents from Save The Children where we are going to deliver to them, PINP staff also benefits tents from Save The children, because they were living on the streets under plastic.

Celine Loyee who is Jasmine's mother one of our Haiti Partners who is living at Citron, she was rented a room house from a landlod for $200us available for one year, now the rent is end she doesn't have money to repay, finally since the earthquake happened she was sleeping under a plastic on the streets near the house that she rented. Where Celine is living now there is no help reaching there and that's mean there is no toilet for her makes her necessaries, she has two children (one girl and a boy) Jasmine who is the girl she is partnership with Linda Messa. Celine is from Cavaillon a community of Cayes (south), she decides to go back to live in her countryside because she can't live for life in that situation, but she provides that she will leave her son in the countryside and get back to port au prince with Jasmine her daughter, as Jasmine is attending second guade class in a school that Jasmine's partner paid for her. SHe said" if I moved definitively to the countryside with all two my children, jasmine won't be benefit suport from her partner anymore as I will be much more far away from the PINP office and they will not be reach us there, that's why oblige to go to leave my son and get back with Jasmine to live in Port au prince. Celine Said " She was under six floors house which was destryed during the earthquake with 10 other people, and only 6 of them who survived under the earthquake".

So now there is more people who suffers in Haiti. There is more problem, we need to keep trying to help as we can and we have to have heartbroken, try to see if we can provide others guide to help them claimb the big mountain which is acrossing them.
Please try to help anyone you can you face especially this family.

School was closed for the earthquake, as there was a lot of damage in Haiti. Now the government said that school has to re-open on April 5, 2010. Most parents complained about school opening soon, because they lost their houses and businesses during the earthquake. They are scared about sending their children under houses to attend classes, because they are afraid that the earthquake will happen again, as they don't have enough information about the earthquake. The Haitian parents said that they don't have the opportunity to buy another school uniform and supplies for their children.

One of the schools that PINP uses for sending the children who live in Cite Soleil is Action Chretian. They will build a temple on the top of the old school to put the classes for the children. There is another school in Morne Lazare, near Citron. PINP sent children in Citron. The school was cracked, and now it has moved to Delmas 83 near our office. So those children will have difficulty to come to school because it is now far away. It's going to cost 40 gourdes ($1 US) for tap-tap.

By the way, Madame Distinction, a professional school, where our mothers attended vocational school (for sewing and cooking skills) also will be open on April, 2010.

We are now focusing on the mini-center which is running in our office, and we will inform you about any changes in the programs.

Mach 15, 2010

This is a short review of the meeting between PINP (Cajuste and Marcel) and MAXIMA (Evelien), today March 15th 2010 at the Maxima factory in PauP.

- Maxima is building wooden temporary relief shelters for earthquake victims (http://www.maximasa.com/FonMax_Housing_Program_introduction.pdf). These cost $2,000 but through a Dutch fundraiser by the foundation "Projecthulp Haiti" several houses can be made available for free or against a minor financial transaction for earthquake victims who are very poor and cannot afford the $2,000.

- Maxima has been contacted by a Dutch family (fam. van Oenen) who are worried about the biological mother of their adoptive child from Haiti. It now appears that this lady, Marlene Chery, is a partner in the PINP program. Through this connection PINP has approached Maxima for help in shelters for the homeless: not only for Malene Chery but also the other of the 90 partners, and possibly for the PINP staff as well.

- PINP works in Cité Soleil (Cité Fekère, Soleil 10, bloc Ti-Ayiti), slum areas Jalousie (PV) and Citron (Montana), as well in Cayes-Jacmel. Some partners now live in a tent city at Delmas 56 (behind Epi d'Or).

- Whereas Maxima has found that many poor people do not have land to build a house on and can thus not receive a Maxima shelter, PINP on the contrary has several partners who own land and are in need of a shelter; besides, PINP has land available at Delmas 77 where some shelters could be built. Most partners in Cayes-Jacmel also own land.

- PINP runs a mini-center for its partners, with courses in Alphabetisation, English, Computer, Painting and Women's Rights. It is located at Delmas 75, Rue Faustin 1er, Imp.Ambroise #3 (close to the Car Wash and Depot Delmas 75).

- In order for PINP to receive houses for free or for lowered costs, Maxima/Projecthulp will have to go through a verification procedure of PINP. The following references have been given:
. Action Chrétienne (where some of the PINP kids go to school in Cité Soleil): 3452-9330 Joel Janéus
. Pélé, Conocs, pasteur Hénock 3823-5096
Evelien will check out these references, and will also doublecheck with the Dutch Consulate and other organizations working in Cité Soleil.
PINP is recognized as non-profit in the US, and has an official website open for all to see (http://www.PINPartnership.org) but the Haitian organization was in the process of being legalized thru the Ministry of Plan when the earthquake struck and thus has no official recognition in Haiti yet.

- As for the land at Delmas 77, Cajuste will contact the owner in Canada, in order to communicate in writing that he indeed allows PINP to build wooden temporary shelters on the property.

- as Maxima will offer the wooden shelters ex-factory, PINP will have to organize transportation, preparation of the land (making it level etc), installing the prefab panels, pouring of the concrete slab, and painting of the house with oil-based paint. Maxima will work on training teams to do all that, but cannot promise that this will actually happen and thus encourages benificiaries to organize it themselves a much as possible.

- As Cajuste and Marcel doubt that the land of Marlene Chery is large enough for the Maxima shelter, they will measure the land and communicate the outcome with Evelien; in case the land is too small there could possibly only a one-room shelter be placed instead.

- Cajust will check with PINP what the best way is to proceed financially: although it is obvious that the PINpartners cannot afford the shelters themselves, it might be possible and possibly even wise to have the partners abroad pitch in financially either on an individual basis or through a special fundraiser.

- As soon as the administrative work is done, and indeed both parties agree that shelters can be built and the terms thereof, PINP and Maxima will decide on the timeline and priority order of houses to be built: priority to be given to either urgent need or ease of installation.

- As Maxima's reason for being is in Job Creation, Maxima will contact Cajuste next time it needs new workers.

- As Evelien is also involved in HPCD (http://www.HPCD.org) which has a Business Incubator (and at this point runs a program with 35 ladies from Cité Soleil, financed by Minustah), there might be possibilities in the future to network further; also, Maxima was in the process of starting a Technical/Professional school when the earthquake hit, and there too could be of interest for PINP and vice versa.

All parties agreed that this was a very pleasant and structural meeting, and we are all looking forward to working with each other in the near future.

Respectfully submitted,

Evelien de Gier

The main goal of the mini-center is preparing the haitian partners to have driect communication with their partners. As most of our Haitian partners are going to school late and they are young it's hard for them learn the three important classes that we have to teach them to be in direct communication , first alphabetization, second computer, and thrid English lesson, as they speak different language with their partners that's why the three classes important for them. Most of our Children are in the second guade at school.
Their progress is now they can turn on, shut down and write their names and their partners names in the computer. I would like to say that teach them to have direct communication with their partners is not impossible but that's going to take a little longer. So we need to be patient because that's going to take about three or four months. The Haitian partners are very interesting with the new programs that we have been created.
PINP staff is spending now more energy for making the direct relationship between the partners and we hope that program will be expending trough the world. PINP one relationship for the world.

I wanted to express myself about my feeling working at PINP. We have received two volunteers (Holli and Heather) from Oregon and France. They spent about 18 days of hard work to let some people who live in the tent cities near our office benefit with food and other utilities. They have interviewed many people, feeling their sadness and participated in meetings in the UN. Frankly their trip to Haiti was successful and helpful. They spent about ten days sleeping at the office. My feeling was I had to stay with them to manage the generator and inverter to make sure that there was power every night they stayed here. This morning, they traveled to the U.S, but they hope to come back soon because they have their own feelings for Haiti. Holli and Heather, they are understanding, loving, and sharing. I think anyone can be involved as a Volunteer. Or if anyone wants to help contact us, through PINP your help will arrive to the people who are suffering in Haiti and hurting during the earthquake. You won't have any trouble to stay in the PINP guest House in Haiti. Please, if you are interested to come as volunteer contact the Founder Geoff Bederson In Alaska, through this email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Sincerely,
Cajuste
